  11. HAPPY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! It has been an honor leading you fine bunch. It has been a wild ride at some points. Today marks ten years from when the Fighting 13th (originally the 13th MEU) was established. We played basically the three games on my PC....Battlefield 2, Battlefield Heroes, and Age of Empires III. Age of Empires was never too big and Battlefield 2 died off, but Battlefield Heroes became our first game game, where we had an impressive seven squads at one point! Early 2010 came Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where we even doubled in size...and then a mutinous split came about which devastated us. We almost threw in the towel. Battlefield Play4Free (very short-lived game) came about and helped us to start picking up the pieces. We were a pretty formidable force in that relatively small game. We went on to place 4th in a Tournament (for money) out of 32 teams in what would be the only P4F Cup to happen. We had a set 10-14 members who practiced every other day or so, and we had tactics formulated--it really paid off. Battlefield 3 in 2011 is where we really started to mold our identity. We were on all three platforms (then) with six/seven squads dominating BF3 in public matches and scrims. Here is a picture of some of that history: I am not posting this picture just to gloat ;) This is one of my most memorable moments in the community. A 38 minute back-and-forth match on Grand Bazaar on Battlefield 3....intense--all 38 minutes of it. We had two infantry squads and a dedicated LAV/engineer squad roaming the four corner streets. The last few minutes we were down by maybe 100 tickets (whoever set this match up made it like 2000v2000 tickets). Everything was just clicking to us...we were all in sync. Communication was constant but not overbearing. Squads were going down, but were not being wiped out completely. It was awesome. My armpits were extremely sweaty after that, my body was trembling.....you would have thought I had just ran a 5K....and I'm sure those other 11 teammates felt the same way I did. After BF3 started to decline, Battlefield 4 came along. It's where we have most of our current core members from. And then 1-2 years after it was released, it died down and a new game appeared. In the early half of the community, our population seemed to swell and decline coincidentally with each new Battlefield game that came out. Nowadays, games do not seem to last as long. The games that we also played alongside these games include the likes of Halo, Killzone 3, Planetside 2, Counter Strike, Call of Duty, The Division, and many more. In 2015, another monumental piece of software came out...Discord. We adopted it in 2016. It changed the dynamic of the two decades of clanning and clan history before it. In 2018, we lost Stormwolfe. He was then commanding the Stingrays Squadron (WOWS NA Group). He will forever be in our memory. Six years prior, we lost a dear friend and clan mate, Purplevine, due to a drunken driving accident in the UK. These were among our lowest moments. May their souls rest in peace and may their memories last in our hearts and their loved one's forever. Currently, the community plays ARMA III, Battlefield V, Escape from Tarkov, Insurgency: Sandstorm, Mordhau, Rocket League, Sea of Thieves, The Division 2, and World of Warships, among other games. We have over 200 AWESOME members and we are always looking for more. Thank you all for everything you do. You make this community very pleasurable for me as well as others. The cover picture depicts Colonel Joe W Kittinger making an extremely high-altitude jump from the edge of space in 1960. I chose it because our 10 year anniversary marks the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings. Also, it symbolizes our future, and how we are always looking for more. Here's to our future. Happy ten years! If you have any awesome memories from your time here, please share them with us here! This is highly disruptive and can detract from the experience of those members. • Joining a gaming channel to briefly get the attention of an admin or squad staff person to join a different channel to discuss an urgent matter is acceptable, but please make it brief. ii. Public Lobby channels are to be used for general, non-gaming-exclusive chat. • Members or groups of members occupying one of these rooms are doing so with the understanding that anyone may join them to discuss anything they wish. • You may occupy any Public Lobby room while playing games, either those officially supported or otherwise. 15. The Newsletter serves you curated content from around the community. We hope you enjoy this issue! Member of the Month Awards Member of the Month Award - Gunfios (April) While still being a relatively new member, gunfios has shown great commitment to both sides of the pond within the World of Warships Division. For six weeks straight, gunfios played day and night in world of warships clan battles, helping the team to victory. The insomniac old git was never swayed by the petty squabbles of his peers (and piers) or the dismay of commanders. He has shown to be a reliable member to world of warships group....and mostly a lovable guy... Everyone is always happy to hear that dusty windpipe bringing smiles to those who are blessed to be in his presence. Well done, ye old git ;) Member of the Month Award - RJBViking (May) RJBViking has been with the Fighting 13th community awhile, several years in fact. He was always a fairly quiet individual. Nevertheless always online when you need him and always cheerful, despite the harsh living conditions he fights living all the way up north (he is our most northern member in the community). Recently, he has stepped up to helm the Rocket League squad within X-Ray Division, overseeing close to a dozen new recruits and weekly events. For his efforts during the month of May, we gladly present him the Member of the Month award. Well done! Member of the Month Award - Jfranklin (June) Jfranklin is one of our most well known Senior Members within the community and within Tactical Combat Division. He is a regular member of our ARMA group, our Insurgency group, and now our Mordhau group. He regularly corrals the troops for game night sessions. Alongside his Tactical Combat Division duties, he has also stepped up to lead the Senior Council. He made the successful turnover from Weabusultimas and he is already proving himself a worthy leader. For his efforts during the month of June, we dutifully present to him the esteemed Member of the Month award. Job well done! 10 Years of Gaming! The Fighting 13th turns 10 years old this month! We could not have done this without your many hours and all the effort you all put into this community day in and day out. Give yourselves a pat on the back! Who would have known July 20th, 2009 would become the day that this great community would be established. Stay tuned for some 10-year anniversary events in celebration of this awesome feat we have accomplished. Discord Role Game "Subscriptions" You may freely add and remove games from your profile by using the -role command in Discord, followed by one of the following games (Please note, you do have to spell it correctly but capitalization does not matter. Also, these are separate from Division roles). The list of games: Arma 3 Battlefield V Division 2 Escape from Tarkov Insurgency Mordhau Rocket League Sea of Thieves Squad Strategy World of Warships For example, if you are not part of the @Spartans Tactical Combat Games Division, but would like to be kept up to date with announcements regarding Insurgency, you can type into any channel: -role Insurgency and you will be pinged whenever we are LFG or have an upcoming event. To unsubscribe simply type the same command again into any channel. Tactical Combat Division "Spartans" News Over the past few months we have seen some changes to the Spartans and what we play. Several games have been added including things like Hell Let Lose, and Post Scriptum, but the biggest addition that brought the most change was Mordhau. Mordhau did not exactly for in to the Spartans as the Tactical Shooter Division, but the more we played the more we realized there was real strategy to how we play and we were having real fun with it. This prompted the change from Tactical Shooters to Tactical Combat games. With that being said our focus still remains strongly with tactical shooter games. We have seen a lot of promise with Hell Let Loose. Post Scriptum has given us some pretty intense play sessions. And Insurgency: Sandstorm is dropping content like there is no tomorrow. There are a ton of games to play right now and that has been a great thing for our division. Lastly, and probably the biggest news, Arma missions are coming back! That is right. You all have asked, and we are doing what we can to get some missions rolling again. With Copat's return, he has setup an Alive server for us to utilize while we continue to create more content. You guys will decide how far this goes. The more interest we have and the more people we have show up for missions, the more time we will devote to said missions. So dust off your gear Deathdealers....and Mount up! Contact cjack for more information. First Person Shooter Division "Red Devils" News The Battlefield group's 'Red Devils' (the only game FPS Division plays at the moment) has been pretty quiet lately. Every Battlefield patch/update has come with a lot of bugs and errors and keeps most players from playing the game. There have been some players that booted up the game sporadically but no big groups simultaneously. We are currently waiting for the Pacific & American theatre to be released which would hopefully bring back some soldiers! This might take some months though as the big update is scheduled to release around October. We did get two new maps recently but that did not do much for anyone. We are still grouping up, so if you have an itchin' to play, come join us. Contact Stixx for more information. World of Warships Division "Hydras" News The World of Warships Division have had a busy quarter. We are re currently taking some well-earned R&R during the off-season. We are looking at doing a weekly training/tournament event just to keep the rust off. We had a successful season 5 of clan battles reaching Storm League Group 2 and eventually finishing in Group 3. We continually do better every season. The NA side have also been doing really well in the weekly Naval Battles mode. Many thanks to all of those who participate! We also had pman step down from his role as the man in charge of the NA side. TheDirtyAndy stepped up to become the new XO of World of Warships (and NA side leader). We of course thank pman for his diligent service and he continues to sail with us and we congratulate TheDirtyAndy on his promotion. Many thanks go out to AquaWhale, MudFrogS1C, Sir_Capt_Teek_V and Yasvar for keeping things under control during the interim period of acquiring a new commander. Also along with AquaWhale and MudFrogS1C being in-game Deputy Commanders of the NA side, we would like to give a shout out to ShodPrism for his in-game promotion of becoming Deputy Commander. Contact Capt Teek or TheDirtyAndy if you are interested in getting together with the fine sailors of the World of Warships Division. TEscape from Tarkov Division "Vikings" News Escape From Tarkov has had a few quiet patch cycles recently. The previous patch, 0.11.7, was both a optimization update as well as a new-content update. As many Tarkov players know, the A.I behavior can range from being John Wick hunting you down with no remorse to simply ol' Jack with a gun. 0.11.7 aimed to fix that by making scav behavior more in-line to how a player would move through out a firefight. New adittions to the game include a few new rifles such as the SVDS marksmen rifle, the Desert Tech MDR rifle and the NATO 7.62mm-firing VPO-101 Vepr hunter carbine. A third USEC voice was added due to the popular EFT sub reddit post made by Twitch streamer FortyOne here: https://old.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/ajex1l/special_request_for_battlestate_games_nikita/. An unwelcome change that occurred was the required additional "find in raid" step in which some quest items were now required to be found in game. Now this usually would not be an issue expect for the fact that some of these quest items are incredibly difficult to find to the point where the quest is not fun to finish and is not worth the reward for the task. players swiftly took to the Tarkov sub reddit to voice their concerns to Nikita, who then promised to come up with better quest changes in the upcoming 0.12 patch. While there has not been much news on 0.12 we were given a 2019 road map at the beginning of the year (it is more of a to-do list than a road map) in which they mention 0.12 including the long-awaited hideout system. I will not go too much into the hideout as there has recently been a well-summarized description of the hide out released by Battle State: https://forum.escapefromtarkov.com/topic/100532-hideout/ . Other things that have been mentioned/confirmed for 0.12 are a new map, new weapons, a scav boss for woods and a new trader. We still have a core group of a people who slug it out on Tarkov almost daily while others have decided that it would be better to sit it out until the next wipe to keep from burning out, a smart move if you ask me. Also Battle State released a pretty cool IRL mini-series thing about Tarkov: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPnrY5BxddI Contact Exidus or Daytex for more information.
